What is quercetin powder?

Quercetin powder is a flavonoid that is present in fruits and vegetables. It has distinct biological properties. That may help in physical/ mental performance and lessen the risk of infection. Flavonoids are distinct chemicals in plants. Called phytonutrients or phytochemicals. This helps to resist bacteria, fungi, and plant virus infections. Some phytochemicals are used as poisons and some as traditional medicine. The name quercetin is used since 1857, it came from the word “quercetum”. Meaning oak forest. By nature, it occurs as a polar auxin transport inhibitor. 

Humans cannot produce quercetin in their bodies. But has lots of vegetables, fruits, and drinks have it. Quercetin has a broad range of biological actions. Including anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and antiviral activities. Also in platelet aggregation, reduced lipid peroxidation and capillary penetrability.

 There are studies in basic research and small clinical trials about quercetin. While quercetin supplements are encouraged for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. Yet there is no strong evidence that will support this. Quercetin is either a defined nutrient or antioxidant. This is based on the warning letters that were issued by US FDA. It is not regulated as a drug to treat any human disease. 

Quercetin Application 

Quercetin is usually taken by mouth. To medicate conditions of the blood vessels and heart. To prevent cancer, also used for bladder infections, arthritis, and diabetes. But, there is only limited scientific proof to support this uses.

Quercetin supplements per dose can range from 500 milligrams up to 1,200 milligrams. In powders and liquid forms are generally two scoops, two sprays, or two drops. Depending on the dosage of the supplement you take. 

Quercetin powder supplements may also include   other substances. Such as Vitamin C and bromelain. It may help the body absorb quercetin more effectively.

  • Apples
  • Honey
  • Onions
  • Berries- any kind of berries, raspberry, strawberry
  • Red Grapes
  • Cherries
  • Citrus Fruits
  • Green Leafy Vegetables
  • Also, present in Herbal remedies such as St. John’s wort and Gingko Biloba
